(RICHMOND, Virginia) Immigration Attorney Nash Joseph Fayad, Founder and President of Fayad Law, P.C., announces an important upcoming deadline for the fiscal year 2023 H-1B cap initial registration period. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on January 28, 2022, that the initial registration period for the fiscal year 2023 H-1B cap will begin at noon Eastern on March 1 and will end at noon Eastern March 18, 2022. Prospective petitioners (also known as registrants) and their authorized representatives who want to hire H-1B workers subject to the cap will be able to complete and submit their registrations using USCIS’s online H-1B registration system during this time. The fiscal year 2023 begins on October 1, 2022.
The registration process requires only basic information about the prospective petitioner and each requested worker. The H-1B selection process will then be carried out based on properly submitted electronic registrations. Only those with selected registrations will be able to file cap-subject H-1B petitions. Selections will occur after the close of the initial registration period (March 1 to March 18, 2022). USCIS intends to notify account holders by March 31, 2022.
Since USCIS approves a limited number of petitions each year during the H-1B cap season, and there are many steps in the H-1B specialty occupation visa process, it is essential to seek the assistance of an experienced immigration law firm such as Fayad Law, P.C.
Nash Fayad established Fayad Law, P.C. in 2004 as a full-service immigration law firm dedicated to protecting immigrants’ rights in both family and business immigration cases and advocating for the human rights of people seeking freedom from persecution and better opportunities for themselves and their families in America. “As an immigrant to the United States myself, I understand all the challenges a person faces whether they want to immigrate to the United States or have a goal of obtaining an H-1B visa so that they can work here,” says Fayad.
Fayad was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Russian People’s Friendship University in Moscow, Russia, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Laws degree with honors in 1992. He studied at the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of States and Law from 1992 to 1998. In June 1998, Fayad received his Ph.D. in Jurisprudence with Honors from the Academy, focusing on International Human Rights Law.
In 1998, Fayad immigrated to the United States. Fayad earned his Master of Laws from the William and Mary School of Law in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2002. In July 2003, he was admitted to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. That same year, Fayad worked with the Catholic Diocese of Richmond Refugee and Immigration Services, representing impoverished immigrants and refugees in asylum and refugee cases.
